SASWATI CHAKRAVARTY – MANAGING DIRECTOR
As the Founder of Bhasha News Media, Saswati brings on board over 25 years of experience in print journalism. Prior to Bhasha, Saswati worked with The Economic Times for over two decades and essayed both senior editorial and business roles. At The Economic Times, she was instrumental in the successful launch of 3 new editions for the newspaper within south India. In 2009, Saswati stepped in to an entrepreneurial role within the development sector to pursue the opportunity and cause of new media architecture for under-served populations. Saswati has been a writer on the development sector for close to a decade and is known for reportage on social entrepreneurship and micro-finance. She has also been associated with the Indian School of Business.
SUSMITA BAGCHI – DIRECTOR
SANJEEV ROY – DIRECTOR
A senior advertising professional, Sanjeev Roy has worked in large multinational agencies across India. He has set up offices and divisions for Grey Worldwide in Bangalore and Euro RSCG in Delhi and Kolkata. He left Euro RSCG as Director to start up BullzI, his own venture. He has always retained an interest in career counseling, people development and training. He has been trained in leadership, marketing and people management in Paris, London and at IMD, Laussanne. Sanjeev is a trained client servicing professional who knows how to evolve a brief, a skill developed over years of working on writing and creating briefs. As a facilitator, he assisted leading HR professionals in running ‘Labs’ and outbound programmes before venturing out on his own.
SUDESHNA BHATTACHARYA - EDITOR
One of the first women journalists in the audio visual mediascape of West Bengal, Sudeshna is known for her in-depth analytical skills and cutting edge reporting on social and political affairs. With years of experience in leading regional and national news networks including ABP Group, Khas Khobor, Akash Bangla, 24 Ghanta, Mahua Khobor and NewsX in senior editorial positions, Sudeshna joined Uttor to bridge the urban-rural divide in media and add value to the new genre of journalism that Bhasha News Media stands for.
KAMAL GHOSH - GM, SALES AND MARKET DEVELOPMENT
With over 32 years experience with one of the leading publishing houses in India, Kamal has been instrumental in creating markets where none existed and in leading sales teams to successes in West Bengal & the North-Eastern states. He has thorough and in-depth knowledge of market development and brings his skills to strengthen the team at Bhasha News Media
Holding a Masters in Indology from Vishwa Bharati University, Shantiniketan, Rajlakshmi started her career with Times of India, Kolkata as an advertising executive in 1983. She rose to the position of General Manager Response and became the first woman Response Head in the group. A continuous journey of 22 years later she accepted the challenge to launch DNA in the city of Mumbai in mid 2005. Following a successful stint as Vice President Ad sales, she returned to Kolkata in 2008.
Partha began his career graph at the Times Group in Kolkata in the early 80s. An Mcom, LLB from Calcutta University, Partha has worked in various functional capacities within Ad sales. Early 2005 he joined DNA as Branch Head Eastern India, stationed in Kolkata.

Puloma graduated in 2010 with Bengali honours from Calcutta University. In 2011, she completed her post graduation in Mass Communication & Public Relations from George Telegraph Training Institute. Alongside working as a Staff Reporter with Uttor, Puloma is pursuing a MSW degree from IGNOU.
SAYANTANI DUTTA – STAFF REPORTER
Sayantani combines her passion for professional challenges with a high level of social concern. A graduate with honours in Bengali from Calcutta University, she has done a post graduate Diploma in Mass Communication from Jadavpur University. She grew up in the northern Bengal district of Cooch Behar, which, she says, has helped her identify with the organisational goals of Bhasha News Media. Prior to reporting for Uttor, Sayantani has worked in a few online and niche magazines.
MD TOWHIDUL ISLAM – TRAINEE REPORTER
A budding journalist, Towhidul has a Master’s degree from Rabindra Bharati University. After completing a post graduate diploma in Mass Communication & Public Relations, he has joined Uttor as a Trainee. Having been brought up in a village in Birbhum district, Towhidul believes that what holds back people, especially from the rural hinterland, from fulfilling their dreams is the lack of awareness about options.
CRM & ADMINISTRATION
Nandini is the latest member to join the enthusiastic team that makes up Bhasha News Media. A graduate in Tourism Management from Calcutta University & a certified QMS auditor from BSI, she has experience in public relations and business administration across several corporate bodies. She brings her skills in managing the structural base of the Kolkata office and enriching the relationship that Bhasha News Media shares with its external partners.
